It's hard to believe that we are thinking about spring all ready...
...I mean it's Michigan, it's November, and we have yet to see our first snowflake downstate! Regardless, soon winter will come and go--and we will be in the midst of our Regional Conference season once again. These conferences, placed in the springtime to allow students adequate time to prepare, truly are the finest examples of student activities in the state of Michigan.
That's for TWO main reasons:
1.) These conferences are completely student-planned! Working with the MASC/MAHS Student Leadership Coordinator, you and your school group will brainstorm, prioritize, and execute all of the logistics of a one-day conference for 150+ of your local peers! This engaging experience in one that few get at such a time as high school, and the project planning skills that groups gain are countless.
2.) The content is decided by...YOU! Students from any school are encouraged to submit a 30-40 minute presentation proposal highlighting a unique and exciting program from your home schools. Maybe you have a fantastic fundraiser, or a crazy community service project--show your peers across Michigan! Exceptional presentations (both in content AND in presentation format) will be honored with a bid to showcase at the 2010 State Student Leadership Convention in Traverse City.
We are looking for HOST SCHOOLS NOW. Whether your group has hosted previously, or you are looking for a challenge to send you to the next step--we encourage you to apply!
