Reminders for chapters and councils as the end of the school year approaches....

• DOCUMENTS: Do you have your NHS/NJHS Handbook or Student Council Constitution, a copy of your local bylaws, updated and accurate election/selection procedures and copies of letters from last year all in one location?
• MEMBERS: Make sure an accurate membership list is on file on a computer, printed out for backup and maybe shove one in your own pocket or email it home so you have it for the summer, especially if you have summer meetings. Check with members to see if any are going on extended vacations or planning to move and make sure they have your contact information so they can keep in touch with you!
• SCHEDULES: Set up all summer/pre-school meetings prior to the last day of school. No summer meetings? Finish the year with a planning meeting so you can hit the ground running in the fall with fresh ideas already lined up. Set up deadlines and special dates for next school year and get them published early (ex: student form deadlines, election or selection dates, ceremony/induction dates, etc...).
• REPORTS: Make sure all events you did this year you have follow-up reports/evaluations filed away for next year. This will help jump-start your planning for next year if you're doing similar events.
• ASSESSMENT: Meet with the school administration to make sure they were satisfied with the council/chapter this year and what they would like to see next year. Work out any issues other advisers or your faculty council have and line up assistants or faculty council potentials for next year.
• FORMS: Submit your membership forms for your State and National Associations before next year - one less thing to remember!
