picture of Jack KalousekThe Michigan Associations of Student Councils and Honor Societies lost a dear friend in February 2007. Mr. Jack Kalousek taught and advised at Franklin High School (Livonia, Michigan) for 12 years and was serving as their Student Activities' Director. He was passionate about student leadership and providing students opportunities to grow. His involvement at the local, state and national level was matched by very few advisers in Michigan.. He was well-known, respected, loved and treasured by advisers and students throughout Michigan and he will be dearly missed. After Jack's passing, numerous schools and individuals came forward to donate money to the Association in the hope that a scholarship for the Summer Leadership Camp could be put together. The Kalousek Family agreed that Jack's passion was seeing students grow and encouraged the creation of the Mr. K Summer Leadership Camp Scholarship. These scholarships will be awarded to student leaders from any public or private high school in Michigan that are currently in 9th, 10th or 11th grade and are interested in attending the leadership camp. The student's school must be a member of MASC or MAHS. Eligible and interested students must submit a completed Applicant Overview Form (see page 2), as well as a personal essay in order to be considered for a scholarship. Scholarships will cover $300 of the $375 Camp Registration Fee. The student is responsible for paying the remainder of the cost of camp.
