Better Everyday Again

Submitted by bettereveryday on Fri, 08/15/2008 - 22:00.

So, it has been two weeks since camp ended. Two weeks! How is that possible? I hope everyone is doing well with their BE Goals (I'd love to hear!).
I have to be honest in saying that I've slipped a bit with mine. My BE goal is to Be Healthy. I've been a type I diabetic since I was five (if you really want to know, it's 29.5 years being diabetic). I'd like to live a long, healthy life. I'd also like to lose some weight. By improving my physical health, I can improve my emotional health and spend a lot less time focusing on how I should look or feel and focus more on life's experiences.
It's been tough to get back into the swing of things in the real world- get back to my 6 am spinning classes and stick with my diet. Now, I'm having to do something that you may need to do- refocus. I need to evaluate what's working for my goal and what isn't and possibly rework this plan I have. My goal will remain the same- to Be Healthy. How I accomplish it may not be what I first envisioned and that is ok.
Whether you're in class or not, life is a constant lesson. We should be able to learn something from every experience, good or bad. Don't see it as a failure, see it as an opportunity to know what works well and what doesn't,. That isn't just part of being better, but also part of everyday.
I hope that you are successful in your goal. If you are starting to realize things aren't going as you planned, don't give up. Keep your eye on what you're trying to do and find a different approach. It might be just what you need to be better everyday!
