Snowcoming just ended at our school and what seem to be a problem is school spirit. At my school we tally what percent of kids dress up and the average per class is around 15-30%. We have advertised in numerous places from, from dropping notes in the hall way, pizza boxes, flyers and posters all over the school, we put them in the announcements and even announce them over the loud speaker. I hope it’s not us doing anything wrong… or are kids just not involved anymore like they used to be?

Prom is coming up soon and with prom we know there can be problems with students driving under the influence. Our school is lucky enough to have not lost students in the past years with drunk driving, but hearing more and more about it from other schools has caused awareness in ours. Teen drinking is becoming a bigger problem every year. It’s come to the point where teachers and principals are buying breathalyzers to test anyone with suspicion. This year to try to prevent some of the teen drinking (and driving) our national honors society is putting on a mock car crash which some of us will participate in! I think that a mock car crash is a really good idea.

Senior year is expected to be the fun year, the blow off year, for some it is while others not so much. It can be the furthest thing away from it. Worrying about scholarships and colleges, and money is a big burden along with all the senior activities. After all its our last year, you want to go out with a bang, but sometimes we can’t do it all, and of we do we sometimes stretch ourselves to thin. Senior year has been a rough year, while all my friends go out and have fun I’m stuck at practices or school functions…which in the end I don’t mind because I know its keeping me out of trouble! I started to stretch myself too thin right before Christmas but I took time to write down everything and realize the more important things in my life.
