Senior Officers: Now Is the Time.

There is no time like the present to improve your council/honor society and make your mark. Think about it: Executive Boards only have a few months left in office until a new batch of student leaders fill their shoes. With that in mind, there are a few things you should start planning:

1.) A spring/summer service project.

-Now is the perfect time to start forming your team for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life. It will be a fun weekend for you and your fellow members and officers. And, as an outgoing officer, it IS your job to aid in the planning of a spring/summer service project because the newly elected officers won't have enough time to pull the whole team together. Not only could it prove great bonding among your leadership group but also an awesome way to work with the new officer and teach them a thing or two. But if there isn't a Relay for Life in your area, there are PLENTY of other great organizations to work with (Susan G. Komen, March of Dimes, Muscular Dystrophy Association, etc.). Just make sure you do something!

2.) Tying up loose ends.

-Make sure you don't leave your council/society's new leadership board with any unnecessary baggage, You need to solve your own mistakes and not pawn them off on the new crew. Make sure all bills are paid, all paperwork is organized, all school-wide election procedures are set, and all resource materials are ready for your successor. Plan how you will "train" him/her. You can make a useful binder full of things you wish you knew when you started the job and important contacts to have. You can plan to take him/her out to a "training" lunch, etc. In other words, make sure you're ready to show them the ropes!

3.) A Last Hoorah!

-Plan a BIG last social event/bonding activity for your group. Create something that will help the underclassmen all remember you and carry on your legacy! Whether it be a phenomenal fiesta movie night, a crazy road rally, or a giant bonfire (with adult supervision, of course), make it unforgettable! Above all, have fun with the people who have changed your life.

Remember: Make Your Mark!
And inspire the next "generation" of teen leaders.
