Aloha Leaders
I know its not like this for every school, but at mine (North Huron) Student Council is like the place to be and National Honor Society is like ultra-boring. At my school, it's the thing you join for college applications alone.
I LOVE NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY!!!!!!! and I'm it's president, so what can I do?
There are some people who enjoy NHS functions in my chapter, but most only do the minimum hours required, because "they have to".
I know that there will always be the people who like donating their time, and the people who don't, so I would like to focus on making meetings more fun and interesting. I just don't know what I can do..
Here's the scene::: We have once a month meetings during our half an hour lunch break. They are crammed with information, and people look into the abyss with a look on their face as if they are falling asleep. Last meeting I mentioned that we should start planning our NHS Trip, and NOBODY said ANYTHING!?!?!?!? I mentioned having a mini-dance marathon for our State Charity, and once again NOTHING!?!?!? I don't understand these people...
Is it like this for anyone else?? How can I make NHS fun for people? Or at least interesting for half an hour each month? I love it, and I want my chapter to see how great it can be, but they aren't even giving it a chance... This is what runs through my head daily.
So what can you do?
1. I thought bringing in cookies and juice would help, but my friends said that will make them pay less attention.
2. I thought of doing an ice breaker or team building activity, but I don't have enough time in the half hour.
3. I think it may be too late in the year for a team building day or night, but if anyone has ideas, I need them!!
I'm just sharing some of my issues and concerns with being the president of National Honor Society. I need help.
Sincerely frustrated,
Caitlin Homrich YOUR CENTER 4 REP!!!!
