Dealing With the Changes

Submitted by jillianterry on Tue, 08/31/2010 - 10:23.

Many people (including me) have a hard time dealing with changes. The smallest change such as switching a class or even cutting someones hair causes them stress. This year on my council, we are dealing with a lot of change. We have a new Student Council Advisor. She was a past advisor at a local school, so we are very lucky to have her. She has jumped right in to help us with everything, We had homecoming mostly planned because it is 9 days after school starts, but there are so many little things that we forgot. Our new advisor has thought of everything, even things I would never have remembered. However at this point, Eboard was the only ones would had met her. Therefore, at our summer bonding, we were extremely excited to show off our new advisor. Everyone absolutely loved her. She is the change we needed for our school. Someone to keep everyone excited and united as one. I struggle with change, but this change is best thing I could have asked for. In this case, the change worked in our favor, but not everyone is always lucky. If the change makes things worse, you have to stay positive. Eboard especially needs to stay happy and positive when talking to everyone, whether they are on council or not. All you need is one person to start a rumor saying that you said the dance would be terrible. If you don't stay positive about your event, then no one is going to want to come. Staying positive and excited makes people believe they want to be excited about the event as well.

Change is different for everyone. Sometimes it works out in your favor, and other times it complicates things a little. However, either way you need to stay positive. You are the leaders of your school. Make everyone think that everything is wonderful. Stay united because if you aren't together as one, then it makes your sitiuation even worse.
