Hopefully you all attended the State Conference and had a good time, I sure did. Avandale did a great job! I can't wait until next year!
Its now time to start thinking about next year and your Council's plans. Keep in mind that we now have a new State Charity so make sure to check out the web site and stay involved.
May Middle Level Center Spotlight
Hello Center 1 and Middle Schools!
My school is preparing for the biggest fundraiser of the year! My school is having a "Spirit Week" where people can dress up, earn privileges, and possibly, at the end of the week, will see their teachers shave their heads!
My Student Council is having a "Spirit Week" to raise funds for the charity Alternatives in Motion. We are having dress up days: DECADES DAY [dress up as a person from your choice of decade (50s, 60s, 70s, etc)]; MOVIE/TV CHARACTER DAY (dress up as your favorite character); WACKY/CRAZY DAY (dress backwards, wear funny hat, wild hair, etc.); PAJAMA DAY (wear your pajamas); and SPIRIT DAY (dress in school colors).
Center 10 and 11 Spotlight
Hey Center 10 and 11!
I am sad to say that this is my last Center Spotlight.
I just wanted to take this time to thank each and every one of you for being passionate and dedicated to Student Council and the state of Michigan.
Your drive and determination will take you far in life.
For seniors-this is not the end of the road, it is just the beginning! Take the lessons that stuco has taught you and apply them to your future. Good luck in your future endeavors, wherever you will go.
For juniors-this is your time to shine, it is your chance to make your senior year the best it can be. Play a role on your coucil, do more than you ever thought you could do!
A Visit with the New Charity of the Year
Last week I spent a few hours at Penrickton Center for Blind Children. It was an enlightening and inspiring few hours! The Center is amazing - from the learning modalities to the color to the staff and children, it was certainly a lot to take in. Below are some pictures from my visit and I hope that you can gain a feel for what this Center does for children, their families and their futures!
Thank You Avondale
Livonia Franklin High School would like to send our deepest thanks to the students of Avondale High School who made MASC States 2008 the successful conference that it was. We truly enjoyed the new spin on leadership and Emmanuel's surprise visit. We know how much work and preparation must have gone into creating such a learning experience. I would also like to personally say how honored I am to have received the Patricia C. Boss Award. I was lost for words at the banquet, but I really do appreciate the recognition for all of my leadership efforts. I know how many outstanding leaders we have in Michigan and that gives the award even more significance. I would also like to wish all seniors good luck as we travel down the leadership road into the future.
Sincerely,
Can't Wait For States
This is the last State Conference I will be attending =( but I am so excited that my years on Student Council will be finalized with this wonderful conference hosted by Avondale High School.
"We are Champions"...what a wonderful theme! I hope by the time everyone loads onto the bus to go back home, they all feel that they can be the champion in someone else's life...or even help somebody become the champion within.
I can't wait to see all of you! Be prepared for inspiration, fun, and energy...because there will be plenty to fill each day!
See you all this weekend...
Yours in LEADERSHIP,
Natalie Conti
Center 10 and 11 Representative
MASC President
STATES!!!!
Wow, I can't believe that states is already here. This is all I have heard the Student Council talk about. I am very excited this is the first time that I will be attending states since I am only a freshmen. Everyone says that they had an amazing time last year. I cant wait until this weekend.
States is SO CLOSE!
Hey Everyone!
Well States is approaching very quickly! But for most of us- It can't come soon enough!
I hope to see many of you there that- get ready to experience and continue MASC/MAHS's best tradition! As you have probably noticed, Avondale High School and the Association have been working hard to make this year's conference one for the history books. Avondale is reinventing different aspects of the conference, and I guarantee you will not be disappointed... (wink, wink)
Charity Comes Full Circle
One of the strong points of working with Alternatives in Motion this school year and in the past is that they work so well with local communities. If there is a need in your community - someone needs mobility assistance, they work closely with the school to fundraise and promote events. This is a wonderful way to raise money because the schools know where the money is going and they can see it firsthand. For us here on staff at MASC/MAHS, we've always worked with the Charity of the Year in a very different way. We facilitate the process between them and the member schools. This year, something happened that allowed us a unique interaction with our Charity of the Year, Alternatives in Motion. Below is a letter I wrote to the staff of Alternatives in Motion (AIM) today...

March Spot Light
Hey ALL!
Time is flying by, regionals are here and almost over and soon enough we will find ourselves at the state conference. There are a few things to look out for in case you forget.
There are a few regionals left if you still plan on going. There are places on this website if you need a few ideas or inspirations.
It is getting that time of year where there isnt too much to look foward to as far as school goes. There are plents of ideas if you are looking to do something with your school to get some sprit into school. I know that at Cheboygan we are planning a spring fling for the first time, and it is going to be a perfect event for this time of year.
